Retail buyers decide in minutes. Wholesale buyers decide over weeks with multiple stakeholders. Same marketing funnel for both leaves money on the table on both sides.
Retail Funnel
Short. Awareness to purchase in one session. Optimize for instant gratification, single-CTA pages, payment friction reduction, social proof above the fold.
Wholesale Funnel
Long. Awareness to first conversation in days, conversation to PO in weeks. Optimize for gated long-form content, demo booking, sales-rep accessibility, and post-demo nurture sequences.
When To Run Both
Use the apex domain for retail. Use a subdomain (wholesale.brand.com) or a separate brand for wholesale. Otherwise the messaging contradicts itself and both channels suffer.
