Built a Flutter iOS + Android + web platform connecting Miami homeowners renting in-law suites, garage conversions, and studio efficiencies with renters who need affordable housing. A gap in the market no major platform serves, and we built the full two-sided marketplace in weeks.
The Challenge
Tens of thousands of Miami homeowners rent out informal efficiency units: in-law suites, garage conversions, small studios on their property. Craigslist is the primary platform. There is no legitimate, verified, mobile-first marketplace for this housing category.
Our Approach
- Built Flutter app with Firebase Auth (Google + Apple sign-in), Firestore listings database, and Cloud Storage for property photos.
- Integrated Stripe Identity for owner and renter KYC verification, adding legitimacy to an informal market.
- Built saved search, property matching, and direct messaging between verified owners and renters.
- Designed owner-pays model: renters browse free, owners pay a small unlock fee per qualified lead.
The Outcome
Casita has a fully functional two-sided marketplace with 28+ passing tests and a verified lead-gen business model. The Miami efficiency housing gap is the first market, with expansion to other metros planned.
